Breathing Life into a Masterpiece: Rendering Matt Murphy’s Maserati Quattroporte
Here at Avarvarii Automotive Artworks, our passion lies in the space where imagination meets photorealism. We thrive on the challenge of taking visionary automotive concepts and grounding them in reality through high-fidelity CGI. Recently, we had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with the incredibly talented designer Matt Murphy to render and animate his breathtaking vision for the future of the Maserati Quattroporte.
If you follow automotive design, you know that tackling a nameplate as legendary as the Quattroporte is no small feat. It requires a delicate balance of honoring a rich, aggressive Italian heritage while pushing the boundaries of modern, aerodynamic luxury. Matt’s design hits that sweet spot perfectly.
The Vision: A Modern Trident
Matt Murphy’s Quattroporte concept is a masterclass in proportion and surfacing. His design retains the long, elegant wheelbase and imposing stance that defines Maserati's flagship sedan, but introduces a sleek, forward-looking aesthetic that feels right at home in the next era of luxury performance. The interplay of aggressive front-end styling with the smooth, flowing lines of the profile creates a vehicle that looks like it is moving even when standing still.
Our task was to ensure that every ounce of that design intent translated perfectly onto the screen.
The Avarvarii Touch: Rendering the Details
Taking Matt’s pristine surface models, our studio got to work building the visual environment. Rendering a car with this level of pedigree requires obsessive attention to material accuracy and lighting.
We focused heavily on how light and shadow cascade across the car's sweeping curves. Getting the digital paint just right—giving it that deep, rich, tangible metallic flake—was crucial to highlighting the subtle muscularity of the wheel arches and the sharp, confident character lines running down the flank. From the intricate details of the Trident badge to the complex geometry of the wheels and lighting clusters, we made sure every pixel reflected the premium nature of the Maserati brand.
Motion and Emotion: The Animation
But a stationary image, no matter how realistic, only tells half the story. A Maserati is defined by its dynamic spirit. To truly capture the essence of Matt’s concept, we produced a full 3D animation of the vehicle.
By carefully choreographing the camera movements, lighting transitions, and environmental reflections, we were able to give the Quattroporte a sense of dramatic presence. The animation allows the viewer to experience the design as it was meant to be seen: in fluid motion, highlighting how the environment interacts with the car's dynamic surfacing from every angle.
See the Final Results
Collaborating with designers like Matt is exactly why we do what we do. It was a fantastic journey bringing this digital dream to life, and we are incredibly proud of the final visuals.
We highly encourage you to head over to Matt Murphy’s portfolio to see the full suite of our high-resolution renders and the complete animation.
