Citroën 2CV Revival – Independent Concept Featured in Turbo & Auto Bild (2025)
Project Description:
Originally created as a personal design exploration and released as a stock illustration via my online shop, this modern reimagining of the Citroën 2CV quickly gained traction. The render was soon picked up and featured as the cover story of both TURBO Magazine (Portugal) and Auto Bild Slovensko in early 2025 — highlighting growing media and market interest in Citroën’s potential retro comeback.
The visual concept explores what a 2028 2CV could look like, borrowing familiar elements from the original — rounded fenders, exposed wheel arches, minimal surfacing — while modernizing the proportions and stance. The image blends design homage with creative freedom, as hard technical details were unavailable at the time. The resulting render carries an estimated 25% accuracy, prioritizing spirit over specs.
Inspired by the recent success of retro-themed models like the Renault 5, Citroën has hinted at launching an affordable, electric 2CV revival based on Stellantis’s Smart Car platform, targeting a price bracket between the Ami (€9000) and C3 (€21,000). If greenlit, the car could launch in 2028 — 80 years after the original.
To complement the static renderings, I also created a series of animated videos featuring the 2CV in motion, published via my YouTube channel. These clips explore the model in dynamic settings, pushing the storytelling beyond the page and into motion — and expanding the reach of the concept with bold, character-rich visuals.
