Future Cars – MotorTrend Magazine (Fall 2026)
Project Description:
This extensive series of speculative automotive concepts was commissioned by MotorTrend for their landmark Fall 2026 "Future Cars" special issue, anchoring the cover story and dominating the editorial feature exploring 2027 and beyond. The project required visualizing the next generation of American performance icons, utilitarian off-roaders, and global innovators before they break cover.
Spanning over 40 bespoke illustrations across the issue, key featured designs included:
- Chevrolet Corvette C9: The yellow mid-engine cover star, pushing aerodynamic packaging, sharp front-end surfacing, and aggressive hypercar proportions into Corvette's next chapter.
- Dodge Copperhead SRT: A track-focused, winged halo coupe featuring a heritage-inspired shaker hood, extreme ground effects, and muscular rear haunches.
- Ford Fathom & Mustang 4-Door: Expanding the Blue Oval's identity with a modern unibody lifestyle truck and a long-wheelbase, swept-roof Mustang sport sedan.
- Heritage Off-Roaders (Jeep Scrambler & GMC Jimmy): Nostalgic single-cab and rugged 4x4 concepts blending vintage two-tone graphics with modern production architecture.
- Tesla Robovan & Toyota Celica: Contrasting forms ranging from an Art Deco-streamlined autonomous people-mover to a low-slung, sharp revival of an iconic Japanese sports coupe.
- Porsche 911 GT3 Evolution: A track-honed evolution emphasizing downforce optimization and lightweight aero surfacing while preserving Stuttgart's timeless silhouette.
Each vehicle was engineered visually from spy photography, patent filings, and engineering leaks to ensure every panel crease and aero channel feels production-plausible. The design mandate demanded tailoring the visual language to each brand’s distinct DNA—from the raw aggression of American muscle to sleek European track weapons and streamlined autonomous vans—while maintaining a cohesive, photorealistic standard throughout the magazine.
This massive commission demonstrates the studio's capacity to execute high-volume, deadline-intensive editorial assignments without compromising fidelity, delivering more than 40 cover-grade and spread-ready vehicle renders for automotive publishing's premier future forecast.
