I am thrilled to share some insights into my latest automotive illustration work, recently featured in MotorTrend. My newest project focuses on the highly anticipated 2028 Range Rover GT, a vehicle that promises to redefine the visual language of one of the world's most recognizable SUV manufacturers.


Collaborating with the editors, my goal was to take the early technical information and design whispers and translate them into a compelling, photorealistic look at what the future holds for Land Rover.


A New Era of Electric Luxury


At the heart of the 2028 Range Rover GT is its fully electric powertrain, marking a significant entry into the electric mid-size luxury arena. Moving away from the combustion engines of the past, this model is designed around silent electric propulsion, bringing a new level of refinement to the brand's luxury lineup.

However, it is the exterior styling that truly sets this vehicle apart and made it such a fascinating subject to illustrate. Instead of the traditional, upright, and boxy shape we usually associate with the brand, the GT marks a radical departure by adopting a much more aerodynamically efficient fastback design.


Sculpting the Coupe Silhouette


In my renderings, I paid special attention to capturing its sweeping roofline and long, low proportions. By drastically lowering the roof and giving it a steeply sloping rear end, Land Rover is targeting a coupe silhouette that feels almost sedan-like.

The design intentionally bridges the gap between traditional tall SUVs and sporty luxury saloons. I made sure the illustrations highlighted these dynamic, long-and-low proportions while retaining the reductive, pure, and minimal architectural surfacing that currently defines modern Range Rovers. The sleek exterior even hides a practical liftgate rather than a conventional trunk lid, maintaining the fluid lines of a grand tourer without sacrificing utility.

Shared Corporate DNA: Echoes of the Jaguar Type 00

While working on the Range Rover GT, it was impossible not to draw parallels with the broader design renaissance happening within Jaguar Land Rover, specifically the dramatic Jaguar Type 00 concept.

Both the Range Rover GT and the Jaguar Type 00 are being positioned as up-market electric GT cruisers, clearly targeting a similar luxury demographic with an eye toward a zero-emission future. While the Jaguar Type 00 shocked the world with its ultra-low two-door coupe styling, long bonnet, and renaissance-influenced architecture, the Range Rover GT applies a similarly striking, low-slung fastback philosophy to an elevated SUV stance.

Visualizing this shared corporate DNA, where both brands are pushing toward minimalist, highly aerodynamic electric grand tourers, provided a brilliant creative canvas.
