The original Citroën 2CV was never just a car; it was a cultural monument. Launched in the late 1940s to get rural France moving, its design was pure utility, simplicity, and charm. Reimagining such a revered silhouette for the modern electric age presents a complex creative challenge. How do you honor a timeless soul while implementing contemporary EV architecture?
When developing this specific 2CV EV illustration and video package, my focus was anchored on a few critical design parameters:
- Preserving the Proportions: Maintaining the unmistakable arched roofline, exposed rear wheels accent line, and prominent freestanding headlights, while modernizing the overall stance.
- Stellantis Platform Integration: Designing with modern production constraints in mind, imagining how the body could sit seamlessly on a compact STLA modular electric vehicle platform.
- Aerodynamic Efficiency: Tweaking classic shapes—like transitioning the vintage corrugated grille into a closed, drag-reducing front fascia—to maximize electric range without losing the car's friendly face.
- Premium Minimalist Details: Incorporating sleek LED lighting signatures, flush door handles, and eco-friendly lightweight composite materials suited for an urban landscape.
