A look at the next generation BMW medium-size estate.
We had the pleasure of illustrating all the upcoming BMW Neue Klasse models for the new issue of the famed German magazine AUTO ZEITUNG.
In this post, we take a look at the next-generation 2027 BMW 3 Series, which marks a significant leap into the brand’s Neue Klasse design era. Although the combustion version remains on the existing CLAR platform, its styling embraces bold new geometry, slim lights, and a broad grille design.
Under the hood, expect the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter inline-six to return, now enhanced with mild-hybrid tech. Meanwhile, the fully electric sibling will ride on BMW’s dedicated Neue Klasse EV architecture.
Inside, the cabin is modernized with a massive ~17.9-inch touchscreen, while BMW has confirmed that some physical controls (like the volume knob) will remain.
Pricing for the combustion model is expected to start around US $50,000, with the electric version slightly higher. Production is planned to begin in late 2026 for a full 2027-model-year launch.
Will this bold direction win over BMW fans? Time will tell.
