Peugeot is preparing to reinvent its best-selling supermini with an all-new electric 208, positioning it as a major leap forward in both design and technology.
The car’s exterior and interior design will be directly inspired by the Peugeot Polygon concept, which previews a sharper, more futuristic visual identity for the brand. The next-generation 208 will be built on Stellantis’ dedicated STLA Small EV platform, enabling improved proportions, better packaging and more advanced electrification.
A major innovation is the introduction of Peugeot’s radical Hypersquare steer-by-wire system, replacing the conventional steering column with a compact, squared-off yoke and fully electronic steering. This technology promises quicker responses, enhanced agility and increased cabin space, while allowing a more minimalist and high-tech interior layout that evolves Peugeot’s i-Cockpit philosophy.
Visually, the new 208 is expected to combine bold, modern surfacing with subtle retro influences, including nods to iconic models like the Peugeot 205. Slim lighting signatures, cleaner body graphics and a more planted stance aim to give the electric supermini a strong visual presence in the competitive B-segment EV market. The new Peugeot 208 is expected to debut later this year, potentially at the Paris Motor Show, with full details on range, performance and interior technology to be revealed closer to launch.
